About Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras was the revolutionary lead ship of Carnival Cruise Line's Excel class when she debuted in July 2021 from Meyer Turku in Finland. At 180,800 gross tons and 1,130 feet long, she was Carnival's largest ship ever and introduced the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT, a two-seat motorcycle-style coaster that rockets along an 800-foot track above the top deck. Named after Carnival Cruise Line's very first ship from 1972, Mardi Gras carries 5,282 passengers at double occupancy and features six themed zones including the French Quarter with New Orleans-inspired restaurants and live jazz, La Piazza with Italian cuisine and atmosphere, and Ultimate Playground with the BOLT coaster and SportSquare. The ship boasts over 20 dining options with celebrity chef venues including Emeril's Bistro 1396 by Emeril Lagasse, Rudi's Seagrill by Rudi Sodamin, and Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken. Mardi Gras was the first LNG-powered cruise ship in North America, marking a major environmental milestone for Carnival Corporation. The ship's Summer Landing zone features the Serenity adults-only retreat with an infinity-edge whirlpool. Mardi Gras sails from Port Canaveral, Florida, offering Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries throughout the year.
