We host every image locally rather than hot-linking it. This page records where the photography comes from and the licence that applies.
Wikimedia Commons
Used for: Most ship exterior photographs.
Licence: Creative Commons licences, which vary by file (commonly CC BY-SA or CC BY). Attribution is required and each photo carries a credit line where it appears.
Wikimedia CommonsVecteezy
Used for: Generic cruise and port photography, the fallback image shown when we have no verified photo of a specific ship, and the category images on cruise news articles that carry no photo of their own.
Licence: Vecteezy Standard/Pro licence, downloaded and hosted locally. Free for commercial use under the terms of that licence. The 60 news category images added on 4 August 2026 require attribution to Vecteezy, which this page provides.
VecteezyCruise line press material
Used for: Ship gallery images supplied by, or published in, a cruise line newsroom, for example Norwegian Cruise Line.
Licence: Used with the permission of the operator, credited to the operator. We do not republish press imagery whose terms restrict it to editorial use.
