observed tracked since Jul 1, 2026; we capture most, not all, calls. How we track ships

In the 2026 season the port transport plan says cruise ships arrive at Berths 2-4 at the Port of Cromarty Firth, which describes its deep berths and anchorages as suited to even the largest cruise ships.

Ship tour or West Harbour on foot

Passengers on tours booked through the ship exit into the main coach parking area on the port facility, opposite Main Gate (Berth 4). Independent passengers exit on foot via West Harbour, and passenger toilets are available before that exit. The port is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre of Invergordon.

Shore Road and its two coach bays

Shore Road in front of the port is a clearway, and the transport plan says it is illegal to stop there. The two Shore Road lay-bys are for pick-up and drop-off only, one coach per bay at a time, with no waiting. On large ship days there may be up to 25 independent operator coaches trying to use the two bays. Taxis, minibuses and anything smaller than a coach cannot use the lay-bys and must pick up and drop off at local car parks or on-street parking.

When the coaches leave and return

For the 2026 season, the port transport plan says the majority of independent coaches leave Invergordon between 08.30 and 09.30 and return between 16.10 and 17.00. The port understands that morning ship-tour coaches are arranged to return to the ship along the High Street.

The 925 to Inverness

The Stagecoach 925 public bus to Inverness leaves from the port's Facilities Office car park. The port's map also lists bus services to Inverness and nearby railway stations for onward travel north and south. The port transport plan gives no timetable for the 925.

The High Street and the mural trail

The town centre has a mural trail, the Invergordon Museum and independent shops and cafes. The port says printed maps will also be available from the Invergordon Tourism Alliance cabin on the quayside.

Busy days in Invergordon

The port's cruise code of conduct says the town's population doubles on some days.

Who to ask

For the port itself, the Cromarty Firth Port Authority is at Port Office, Shore Road, Invergordon, IV18 0HD, and takes cruise enquiries on +44 (0) 1349 852308.
