Norwegian Cruise Line cancelled the Acapulco port call for Norwegian Bliss on October 17 due to Hurricane Trudy, a Category 3 storm expected to strengthen further. The 4,004-passenger ship, operating a 19-night repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to New York City, will spend the day at sea instead of docking in Mexico.
The decision prioritizes passenger safety while maintaining the ship's critical transit through the Panama Canal on October 24. Norwegian Bliss informed guests of the change via stateroom letters, explaining the need to maintain distance from the storm's projected path. No alternative port replacement is available for the cancelled call.
Guests who booked Norwegian Cruise Line shore excursions for Acapulco will receive automatic refunds credited to their onboard accounts. Those interested in booking tours at other scheduled stops, including Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Jamaica, and Florida, can visit the Shore Excursion Desk on Deck 6.
The repositioning cruise continues as planned otherwise. Norwegian Bliss already visited Cabo San Lucas on October 15 and remains on track to arrive in New York City on November 1. Cruise passengers facing unexpected port cancellations due to weather should expect automatic refund processing and should monitor their cruise line's communication channels for any further itinerary adjustments.
