Princess Cruises has increased the cost of shipping its Medallion device to passengers, marking the second price hike for this service in 2026. Passengers in the US will now pay $22 to have a Medallion shipped ahead of their cruise, up from $20, while Canadian passengers face a jump from $25 to $27. The new rates took effect August 20 and apply only to orders placed on or after that date, leaving previously placed orders unaffected.
The Medallion functions as a stateroom key, boarding pass, onboard payment method, and personal preference manager for Princess ships. Many passengers prefer to receive their Medallion in advance so they can familiarize themselves with the device before boarding and avoid delays during embarkation day check-in. The shipping fee covers all Medallions ordered together to the same address, but multiple addresses or separate orders trigger additional charges.
This represents a 10% increase for US addresses and 8% for Canadian ones since March 2026, when Princess raised shipping from $10 to $20 (US) and $15 to $25 (Canada). The cruise line cited "necessary adjustments to align pricing and ensure continued high-quality, reliable shipping services," though the US Postal Service did increase some shipping rates in July 2026. That said, Princess has not explicitly tied the Medallion fee to postal rate changes.
Passengers unwilling to pay the shipping fee retain one option: picking up a Medallion free of charge at the cruise terminal during embarkation check-in. This avoids shipping costs and the risk of a lost or delayed package but does require additional time during the already busy boarding process. For guests ordering Medallions for the first time or planning multiple sailings, these cumulative increases may shift cost calculations around advance device delivery.
