Two passengers faced felony charges after a violent confrontation aboard an unidentified cruise ship docked at Port Canaveral on August 15, 2026. The incident escalated when 28-year-old Brooklyn Hicks and 29-year-old Gannon Jacox were asked to lower their noise level by another guest, leading to a fight that spilled into a neighboring cabin occupied by a family with a 9-year-old child.
According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Hicks confronted the other guests while Jacox filmed the altercation and verbally encouraged the violence. When the two men forced their way into the victims' stateroom, a physical fight broke out. Jacox struck all three people in the room, including the child, though no serious injuries were reported. Alcohol was identified as a contributing factor. Both men were arrested and booked into Brevard County Jail that evening, with Hicks held on two charges totaling $6,000 bond and Jacox on four charges with bonds set at $31,000.
The cruise ship was never officially identified, though four vessels were in port that day: Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas, Disney Cruise Line's Disney Treasure, Carnival's Mardi Gras, and Carnival Freedom. All four ships departed on schedule that evening with no delays. Cruise lines maintain onboard security personnel and detention areas for serious incidents, though passengers who violate criminal law are typically handed over to local authorities at the next port.
