Cruise passengers departing from Port Canaveral will soon have significantly easier parking options. The port's new 13-story parking garage, adjacent to Cruise Terminal 6, reached structural completion on August 19, 2026, with construction crews celebrating the topping off ceremony. The $93 million facility will add more than 3,700 parking spaces when it opens this fall, nearly doubling the port's current parking capacity.
The new garage represents the largest and most complex parking project in Port Canaveral's history. At 1.2 million square feet, it will serve passengers from Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line, all of which operate from Terminal 6. A pedestrian bridge will also connect the garage to nearby Terminal 5, benefiting additional Royal Caribbean and Norwegian guests departing from that location. The eight oversized elevators built into the structure are designed to handle heavy passenger traffic and luggage movement efficiently.
Construction moved quickly after vertical work began in early March 2026, completing the exterior shell in less than six months. Interior finishing work now continues, including installation of pay stations, lighting, signage, and lane striping. Port officials have not yet announced a specific opening date beyond the fall 2026 timeline.
Once operational, the new garage will bring Port Canaveral's total parking capacity to nearly 17,500 spaces across eight garages and surface lots. This expansion is part of a larger $1 billion Port Canaveral Advantage program that includes multiple terminal and infrastructure upgrades planned over the next five years. For travelers who have previously circled lots hunting for a spot, the expanded capacity should mean faster arrivals and less pre-cruise stress.
