American Cruise Lines christened American Maverick in Newport, Rhode Island, marking the latest addition to its expanding U.S.-built fleet. The 130-passenger vessel began service with a nine-day New England Islands cruise departing from Providence. The christening ceremony, held in Newport Harbor, included remarks from company President Charles B. Robertson and the ship's godmother, Susan Renner, followed by a traditional bottle smash and lobster bake at Fort Adams State Park. American Maverick features four decks, private balcony staterooms, multiple lounges, and a fitness center. The company has eight additional ships under construction, with American Ranger, American Mariner, and American Navigator scheduled to debut within the coming year alongside the riverboat American Encore, which launched in May.
