Royal Caribbean: Crown & Anchor Society
Crown & Anchor is the most widely recognised cruise loyalty program in the world, which makes sense given Royal Caribbean's fleet size. If you've only sailed one cruise line, there's a fair chance it was Royal Caribbean.

Where benefits actually start mattering
Gold and Platinum are largely cosmetic, a welcome letter, slightly earlier check-in availability, and a pin. Don't book with a single line purely to reach these tiers.
Emerald adds priority boarding, which is genuine and useful. You're also invited to the past guest cocktail party (free drinks for an evening).
Diamond is where Crown & Anchor becomes meaningfully valuable: four daily complimentary drink vouchers (redeemable at most bars), access to a dedicated Diamond Lounge on compatible ships, and priority disembarkation. This is the tier most loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers are working toward.

Pinnacle Club is Royal Caribbean's top tier and one of the most generous in the industry: complimentary meals in specialty restaurants on every sailing, complimentary dry-cleaning, dedicated concierge, and a host of other recognitions. Reaching it requires a sustained commitment to a single line.
Pro tip: Crown & Anchor points are shared reciprocally with Celebrity Cruises, both are owned by Royal Caribbean Group. If you alternate between Royal Caribbean and Celebrity sailings, your points accumulate on a single account. This is one of the more passenger-friendly policies in the loyalty space.

Carnival: VIFP Club
VIFP stands for Very Important Fun Person, which tells you something about Carnival's brand voice. The program is straightforward and the lower tiers are realistic to reach.

Unlike Royal Caribbean's night-based system, Carnival counts sailings rather than nights. A 3-night Bahamas cruise counts the same as a 14-night Alaska voyage. This benefits short-cruise regulars but disadvantages long-cruise passengers.

Red tier unlocks a past guest rate (typically a modest discount) and priority check-in at select ports. Reachable after your second sailing.
Gold is where benefits become practical: priority boarding at all ports, onboard spending credit ($25–$50 depending on sailing length), and an invitation to the past guests cocktail party. Most regular Carnival cruisers reach Gold within two or three years.
Platinum adds complimentary wine or chocolate (variable by sailing), priority tender tickets (significant at tender ports), priority embarkation and disembarkation, and laundry service is not included, a notable gap compared to competitors at this tier.
Diamond is Carnival's top tier. Benefits include all of Platinum plus a complimentary specialty dining meal, priority guest services line access, and dedicated concierge support on select ships.
Pro tip: Carnival's VIFP program has no drink voucher equivalent at any tier. If free drinks are central to your loyalty calculus, Royal Caribbean's Diamond benefits are meaningfully superior. Norwegian: Latitudes Rewards
Norwegian's Latitudes program has undergone significant improvements and now offers some of the better mid-tier benefits in mainstream cruising.

Gold unlocks priority embarkation and disembarkation, a welcome amenity (champagne, chocolates), and an onboard credit that scales with sailing length.
Platinum is Norwegian's sweet spot: complimentary laundry service (unlimited, a real value on longer sailings), priority tender service, and a complimentary dinner for two at a specialty restaurant. Platinum benefits are widely considered the most balanced mid-tier package of any mainstream line.

Princess Cruises' Captain's Circle is one of the older loyalty programs in the industry and has a consistent reputation for delivering benefits that actually show up on your sailing rather than requiring complex redemption.

Reachable after roughly 15–20 cruises depending on length.
