Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas Delayed by Rough Weather in the UK

Liberty of the Seas arrival in Southampton delayed by rough seas and high winds, affecting both disembarkation and next cruise embarkation on June 7.

via Cruise Hive · Published Jun 6, 2026 · 1 min read

Liberty of the Seas will arrive in Southampton approximately six hours behind schedule on June 7 due to severe weather conditions in the English Channel. The Royal Caribbean vessel was originally slated to dock at 6:00 a.m., but rough seas and wind gusts up to 28 miles per hour are forcing the delay. The late arrival cascades through the ship's operations, pushing back both passenger disembarkation and the subsequent embarkation for a five-night sailing to Hamburg and Zeebrugge. Passengers booked on the next voyage have been instructed to arrive three hours later than planned, with new check-in windows beginning at 2:30 p.m. A scheduled sea day on June 8 should allow the 3,634-guest vessel to recover lost time before reaching Hamburg on June 9. The itinerary remains otherwise unchanged. This marks the second disruption for the current sailing; strikes in Lisbon earlier forced Royal Caribbean to rearrange port calls.
