PONANT Explorations has announced its 2028 voyage lineup in partnership with Smithsonian Journeys, headlined by a new solar eclipse expedition. The 10-night Western Australia voyage aboard Le Jacques Cartier departs Darwin on July 19, timed to align with a total solar eclipse on July 22 that will last up to five minutes — among the longest durations globally. The itinerary concludes in Broome and includes visits to Aboriginal rock art sites, crocodile-inhabited mangroves, and Montgomery Reef, one of Earth's largest reef systems. Guests will benefit from expert commentary by meteorologist Joe Rao and NASA geologist Brent Garry. The 2028 season also features returning itineraries, including a seven-night Panama and Costa Rica sailing on Le Bougainville, plus voyages to Madagascar, Seychelles, and Baja California.
